The idea that would become the Shamiri Institute was conceived in 2018 at the Harvard Lab for Youth Mental Health, stemming from the vision of Kenyan social entrepreneur Tom Osborn, global mental health researcher Katherine Venturo-Conerly, and Prof. John R Weisz.

We founded the Shamiri Institute to combine rigorous social science research with deep contextual knowledge of educational and mental healthcare systems. This allows us to develop and implement scalable solutions that enable young people to thrive and actualize their life potential.
